ABOUT THE PROJECT

Spiritbridge, created in 2016, is a photography project by David W. McCoy.This project is here to primarily showcase my photos, along with my Society6/Shutterstock portfolios, in hopes of creating some extra income while sharing bits of the world I have found and captured.Of course, I also have a nagging drive to explore, and my own little vision of what is important -- namely what forms of history are important. Photography allows anyone to capture a moment that could later be viewed by future generations as research or nostalgia. It allows us to share our lives now & to look at life in the past. I have a deep desire to explore that past, not taught in books, through photos, told stories, and my own simple research (a lot of Googling may be involved).Early in 2018, I had to place the project on hold to care for my Grandmother (whom I had lived with for as long as I can remember) after she suffered multiple smaller strokes at once in February of that year. The bulk of 2018 was filled with my 9-5 factory job, visiting my grandmother, and reeling at the thought of trying to organize and understand the belongings we had in the house we rent. (Needless to say, that same process of organizing and understanding still is slowly moving as I wrote this in December of 2021).When my grandmother passed away in November of 2018, I was understandably not worried about projects and just trying to wrap my head around my future as a whole. It took until mid-2019 until I had decided to return to this project with a new branding logo design, modified with the more modern wings, to memorialize my grandmother. She encouraged both my photography adventures & my interest in art as a whole.

This project is still very grassroots in size. I try to post new images as I find the time. Between my regular factory job, sleep, and finding time or money for fueling the trips and weekend wanderings (that I use for gathering images on my old Canon T3i DSLR) -- it can get a bit hectic. The goal for the foreseeable future is to grow some traction on purchases of images on the Society6 shop and Shutterstock Portfolio. I am not expecting grand earnings right away, but I would like to see this grow. This project has a small social media network, as noted on the SpiritBridge Carrd. These are great ways to get updates on the project -- as well as small random posts of images while I am traveling or wandering around. Sometimes I also include at-home things to share how things are going. Additionally, I have a YouTube channel lined up that I hope to start looking at creating videos like:· Trip highlight videos
· Drone footage compilations
· And maybe vlogs where I can sit down and share with others my views on history, travel, whatever comes to mind.
It's been a slow, yet heavy forging to get to this point where I have started to brand the project more and look at ideas I want to do in the future. I am hoping more people, like yourself - dear reader - will want to join me on this journey.
